The city of Barranquilla was founded by a group of cattle grazing farmers from the township of Galapa, who by advancing working days managed to settle on the banks of the river Magadalena. Throughout the times the city was growing and developing economic activities taking advantage of the fluvial taking over as the first port on the Magdalena River. Barranquilla was born in Colombia, the use of National Post, grew the first air routes in Latin America with the creation of the first Aviation Company as was Scacta Now Avianca. This Costeño territory has maintained since its creation the flag of tourism, commerce, education and the business factor that is the first line within the economy at the departmental and national levels. Barranquilla has its own identity since the World concert for its wonderful and colorful Carnival which is celebrated every year achieving international recognition, earning by the UN the great name of Cultural and intangible Heritage of Humanity. Its folklore Costeño stands out with its native music of the Carnival and the Caribbean where yesterday's celebrities Pacho Galan, Mario Gareńa, Chakira and so many other artists and composers stand out. They have put the name of the city on high. It is undoubted that the last say that the Barranquilleros have been awarded with excellent Municipal Governments reaching a modern and pleasant urbanism in all the strata of the District with modern parks, sports and recreational scenarios taking advantage of the good use of public resources for the good mental and integral health of the Atlanticenses, it is good to highlight the beautiful frame of the terminal of the Magadalena river, architectural work that unites the sect River and the great recovery of the historic sector of the city, which is a long-term program but very fruitful in the last decades. It is also important to advance the provision of all public services, especially the urban transport that is taking more binding force with the popular masses. The great urban framework unleashed in the last 20 years has created great and beautiful Shopping Centers everywhere, the cardinal points of the city offering employment and commerce which it calls cars at all levels.

The main work that Barranquilla receives as the most important one in its history is the successful channeling of its streams, which modernizes municipal coexistence in all civic aspects.
The fact of belonging to Cartagena and Santa Marta to the group of the three pearls of the Colombian Caribbean leaves us a taste of immense hope for a more promising future for generations to come.
I want to emphasize in this comment that I have always been a neighbor of the Altos de Riomar district located in a privileged sutio of the city with a modern infrastructure that grows every day in its surroundings of Shopping, Educational, Sports and Social Centers of the sector; accompanied by a select group of families that allow a healthy and pleasant coexistence since I was born in this beautiful Costeño soil.

With all these urban and citizen characteristics Barranquilla is outlined in the national and international concert as a major pole of Industrial, Fluvial, Cultural and Commercial Industrial Business Development of the Caribbean International. It is necessary to highlight the administrative work of the last three DISTRICT MAYORS that have contributed enormously in plans and programs of social order and to stand out in the Secretary of Social Management that directs the first lady of the city.
